Jillian Hughes

Founder

Jillian Hughes has over 12 years of professional writing experience and what her clients call an "eye" for design. Prior to founding Green Ribbon Media, she was EVP of Communications at the nonprofit organization Mental Health America (MHA). At MHA she managed two departments, raised the organization's media profile, and recruited major donors.

Before joining Mental Health America, Jillian was the Broadcast Producer for CBS News' Sunday morning public affairs program, Face The Nation. There she helped shape the editorial direction of the show and supervised control room operations.

Earlier in her career she was a White House Producer for CBS News, covering both the Trump and Obama administrations. She contributed extensively to CBS News' campaign coverage, most notably as the lead researcher for presidential primary debates. During her time at CBS News, she was nominated for five Emmys.

Molly

Chief Canine Officer

Molly was rescued from Columbus County, North Carolina after spending the first nine months of her life on the street. Jillian adopted Molly through City Dogs Rescue in October 2020. Despite looking very much like a Golden Retriever, a DNA test revealed Molly is predominantly German Shepherd. While some say that is hard to believe, Molly came from North Carolina to DC with a sister, Daisy, who has German Shepherd coloring. Molly enjoys chewing on tennis balls, crashing Zoom calls, and cuddles with Jillian.

Why the name?

Lime green is the recognized color of mental health awareness and advocates often wear lime green ribbons during Mental Health Month in May. Jillian was previously a communications executive at a mental health nonprofit and she wanted to pay homage to mental health, a topic that means a lot to her, in her company's name. She also specializes in working with mental health nonprofit clients.

In addition to being an advocate, Jillian also lives with a mental health condition, is a Certified Peer Support Specialist, and volunteers her time as a crisis counselor.
